PhysioTel^® Multiplus Transmitters

Data Sciences International designed this extensive series of fully implantable transmitters to allow for simultaneous monitoring of several physiological variables such as pressure, multiple biopotentials (e.g. ECG, EEG, EMG), temperature and animal movement with one single implant.
The implants range in size to accomodate studies in animals varying in size from rats to dogs and large nonhuman primates. Three different packages are available. The smaller packages (F50 and C50) can be implanted intraperitoneally in rats, or subcutaneously in slightly larger animals. The largest package (D70) is usually implanted subcutaneously in dogs and monkeys.

Multiplus^TM transmitters that measure pressure(s) make use of the same innovative catheter design and advanced electronics as described for the Pressure Implants.
Transmitters equipped with sensing leads for biopotentials are offered with a variety of embedded amplifiers with input sensitivities ranging from 2.5 - 10 mV. The leads consist of helical stainless steel wires, covered with a an insulating layer of silicone tubing.
